Christen and Demetre have something I can only describe as very good chemistry. Of course the camera loves that, and it makes my job easy! We met downtown and I dragged them on a good walk of the area. It was ridiculously warm (for February) and perfect for some good outside time. I hear it all the time from other photographers but I really do love my job! And people like these two are a good reason why. So many great weddings to come this year, and theirs is one of them. Looking forward to September guys.. thanks for the afternoon stroll : )

Leslie and Joel were married on a late December day. It was the first time we stayed indoors for an entire wedding... and luckily we were at the beautiful Delta Armouries in downtown London so there was no need to worry. These two were so clearly excited to be getting married (note the huge smiles you see below) and both seemed more eager than nervous in the moments before the ceremony. Their candle-lit ceremony was followed by a brief photo tour and then they joined their friends and family for a dinner celebration. It should be noted that the groom's mother made the most amazing wedding cake!! I thought she was a pro but she says it's her first one. I see a lot of cakes. So impressed with this one.

I am sooooo over-the-moon-excited to finally share this wedding. The wedding of Adam and Tori, two of our very good friends.

This was a day of goodness. Love. Laughter - and so much of it. On an early December day we joined hundreds of their nearest and dearest and celebrated the union of two of the awesomest people (yes, awesomest.. some things need a make-believe word). No snow, but a gorgeous winter day we don't often see in December.

Tori, you looked like a magazine bride. Adam - I know you hate/loathe/fear the camera. You clean up so nice for it though. And, you smiled for real. I know why. I love the love you have for each other and I can only hope the same for every couple we work with. Thanks so much guys - for giving us a front row ticket to your wedding and for your confidence in what we do. That means the world to us.

I'm pretty sure November is my favourite month of the year. I am so grateful for the beautiful weather we had on this day. The weather was so good on the day Dawn and Chris were married (a lot nicer than many of our October days had been!) and just right for a wedding. Dawn and Chris are incredibly sweet people everyone was so openly excited to be celebrating with them. The day we spent with Dawn and Chris flew by so fast for us and for them too, I'm sure... who really remembers their wedding day? That's why we're there : )

It was a beautiful thing. We were honoured to be a part of it.

We loved this shoot last fall; it was great to visit the beautiful K-W area and we were lucky to get such a beauty day for it. Stacey's dad has a great house right by the Kissing Bridge (which I had never heard of until meeting Stacey.. and it is so pretty! And apparently a popular spot for photos). His house is super cozy and literally right next to the bridge. I want one!

a year in the life of annie and zach ... and beau (our very first nephew!)

Annie is my little sister and eight years younger than me. I remember when she was born. So when she told us she was going to have a baby, needless to say it was very unexpected. Babies having babies?! But right from the start we were excited for them. A little scared for them too, but we had no question that they could make it work.  And they did. On the very first day of 2012 their tiny little baby made his way out into the world, happy and healthy. They named him Beau. He is absolutely perfect. The best way to start a new year. We are so excited to have a nephew and for our boys to have a cousin! Annie and Zach we are so proud of you guys and we love you all to the moon and back. I can't wait to watch this little guy grow up. He is going to have a very good life : )

The following is a series of three separate shoots from newest to oldest. Starting with Beau at 1 week old, then at the hospital, and then in the belly, and finally a shoot we did when they were just weeks into the pregnancy. As a photographer I am always excited to photograph the people I love but sometimes those photos are hoarded away forever until I can catch up on client work. I'm still not caught up (likely will never be), but these photos were long overdue. 

SO ... here they are. The sweetest new family in the world : )

We loved this wedding! Our first ceremony at the Rose Chapel and we were so impressed... it is adorable.  Keeping things all in one location on a wedding day is a smart idea,  and Melanie and Edward did just that by choosing the Best Western  Stoneridge for their ceremony and reception. The Rose Chapel is right on  the grounds, and since it's pretty much in the middle of nowhere,  plenty of open space around for photos. This was our very last wedding  of October and even though they neared freezing, this was such a good  bunch of people to work with! Thank you for sharing your day with us  Melanie and Edward; congratulations : )

Our first full year in London was officially awesome.

A lot happened around here in 2011. We got to know a new city. Worked with our first-ever intern Sam! Met so many really good people. Went to so many different weddings. We tackled doubled the work we did last year. Had baby #2! Sent our little guy off to real school... the list goes on. A ginormous thank you to every client and friend and family person for making this a year that won't just blur into the rest.  Jeremy - I know you are an anti-blog-shoutout kind of guy.. but I don't say it enough: this boat wouldn't float without you. I'm so glad we survived that really intense pre-Christmas storm of 2011 : )

Very, very excited to get in to 2012! And now I'm off to celebrate. Happy New Year everyone.. see you soon!

Amie and Steve were married on Amie's birthday! Which also ended up being one of the nicest October days we saw this year. I can't say enough good things about this wedding. The super-friendly (large!) crowd of friends and family. The art Amie created for the ceremony and reception! The fact that they rode around in the cab of a transport truck on their wedding day. And they let us take them for a brief tour of London's industrial area. I could go on, but I won't in hopes that the photos can hold their own. Thank you Amie and Steve, we loved working with you. Amie I hope it was the very best birthday ever. Congratulations : )

The time of day for this shoot was ideal for lighting (mid-morning on an autumn day). But sadly there was no sun on this Sunday - pretty much just rain. Rob and Stacey had come up from Windsor for this very reason and so we went ahead, sunless but still really excited. Thank you Stacey and Rob; I was thrilled at your chameleon-like ability to adapt to any environment. And your willingness to lay in an apple orchard under an umbrella on a blanket on top of rotten apples in the pouring rain.

Even though they're from the K-W area, Lesley and Brent fell in love with the Elm Hurst Inn and they had to have their wedding there. With good reason- it really is a unique and beautiful venue and every time we shoot there we thoroughly enjoy it. On this particular Friday in mid-October we were dealt a fun variety of weather options; wind, cold, rain. Potential wedding day nightmare,  but no worries in a lovely venue like this! We are so lucky to work with such amazing people! Megan and Dane were married on a cold and rainy October day and they weren't phased by the weather a bit. We loved their choice of ceremony location (St. Luke's Chapel-in-the-Garden) and their unique reception venue (The Wave at UWO). There was such a happy vibe in the air all day long... these two were sooo excited to be getting married and it was obvious their friends and family felt the same way. We got a bit of luck when the skies cleared just before the reception, in time for some outdoor photos. Megan and Dane, you two put on one super good party. And we loved how you conquered the dance floor! It's always good to see our couples enjoying themselves at the reception... that's what it's all about! The day of their shoot promised the all-day kind of rain and we debated rescheduling. We finally decided to go ahead with it and hope for the best... and somehow a little window of clear skies opened up above Ingersoll. And all was good. Laura, Kyle and their pup Theo were fantastic and we had some pretty spectacular locations to work with .... I love this little town. And just as we wrapped it up, it started to rain. But we major-procrastinated signing up.. and it kind of became a fun sort of game for us. We maybe were the only people over the age of 10 who didn't have it. Just before sunset is the very best time of day to take photos. Also sunrise, but for some reason no one seems to ever want to book a shoot for 7 a.m.  I met Jenny and Mike near Port Stanley on an October day in the late afternoon. Pretty sure I stepped into a real life fairy tale wedding. And immediately I was amazed at a lot of things. Like the warmth of the family and guests.. the d.i.y. flowers and decor... and the crazy amount of work and love that went into everything about this day. And in spite of the fact that they had organized and created all of the little tiny details themselves, a calm and carefree bride and groom. Andy and Amy you were awesome to work with.  Such a good match and so much fun to photograph together. I met up with Amy and Andy for their engagement session just days before their wedding. Most people do this at least a few months in advance, but not these two. It's just the way they roll. And in the week-of-the-wedding whirling chaos that is the norm, this might have just been the best thing for them to do. A little chunk of time that wasn't spent doing wedding stuff. All they had to do was hang out and be cute together. Quite obviously, not a problem. I love the way these two work together and I left the engagement shoot totally looking forward to the wedding that weekend.  The wedding was beyond words and we'll be posting it on the blog later this week. But for now, some of the very last photos taken of this couple before they became a Mr and Mrs. Thank you A-Team : )

This was the first early October weekend that it actually felt like summer was gone. We had wind, we had rain. We had very cold. Like most October Sundays we had a day packed with scheduled shoots. Half of them rescheduled because of the weather but Allison and Matt went for it. Which was great for us because we were totally up for a shoot that day and the waterfront area wasn't busy at all. No questions about it, Debb was going to have the country wedding she had always envisioned. She found the perfect barn and the perfect little pink boots for her baby  girl. She had boots for all her girls, custom-sewn dresses, and even a  real life cowboy-esque man to marry. All the nitty gritty little details  were in place. But with only three weeks to go, the region decided to prohibit barn weddings. Effective immediately. So after a very worthy intense sobfest, Debb dusted  herself off and re-planned her entire day. She found a community centre that was still available  and with the help of her friends and family it became her barn. We did get to use the real barn for photos and it was perfect. In spite of all the no-barns-allowed drama, the day went on without a hitch. Debb still got her country wedding and her cowboy groom and it was such a good day. 

Debb we were beyond honoured to be so close to you and Doug on this day.  It's obvious there's a crazy good connection between you two.  Thank you for sharing it with us. We are so happy for you and for your wonderful little family. CONGRATULATIONS!

Five  long years ago (when I was young) Adam was an MC at our wedding. He's  definitely one of the funniest people I know and Jeremy has been friends  with him since they were kids. A couple of years ago we met his Tori  and we immediately loved her and could easily see why he was so into  her. When they bought a house together we knew it was serious. When they  completely gutted and rebuilt the house and survived that chaos, we  knew it was the Forever kind of love. And not surprisingly at all, late  last year they announced their engagement. Adam and Tori we are SO  excited to be such an important part of your wedding day next month and  we are so very happy for the two of you. Can't wait!!

Weddings are expensive (to say the least) and the typical department store gift registry is sometimes a little boring for the unique gifter.  So to help out our clients (and their guests!) we are excited to announce that we are now offering a gift registry option. This helps cover the cost of photography services and products like gallery wraps, prints, albums, and more! Gifters can contact us directly to initiate the process and arrange a gift amount and we’ll credit the client account accordingly. If you’re already a client with us then you already have a registry set up- just steer your friends and family in our direction and we will guide them through the process. Each gifter will be mailed out a pretty little card indicating the gift amount, which can be gifted to the couple with their wedding card. Clients will receive registry updates but gifts will remain anonymous until after the wedding date (because everyone loves a little element of surprise!)This registry is also great for birthdays, holidays, baby showers, etc. Truly an amazing gift, in our opinion!

Sheri and Keith were married on a beauty of a day in mid-September at  Spencer Hall. We had an all-around wonderful day with the two of them;  they're so relaxed and they happen to be adorable. Sheri's dress  was incredible. Such a lighthearted bunch of people makes things so easy  for us! They requested a photobooth at the reception and they had the  perfect crowd for it. And the dancing!! It's been a while since we've  had a groom who cut a rug of these proportions on the dance floor. I  think it had a lot to do with the so very talented Carl Emery  who kept things rolling smoothly (best DJ ever). Sheri and Keith, you  fit together like peanut butter and jelly and we were honoured to be  such a huge part of your wedding day. Thank you for everything.  Congratulations too : )

LOVED this shoot. Jani and Haye scrapped the traditional ceremony in favour of a civil service at city hall and we joined them just for a couple of hours downtown before they headed off to celebrate with more friends and family. Never before had we witnessed a ceremony of this type but it was sweet and short and awesome. Jani's sister Laura was married back in June and she wowed us with her creative details... and Jani did the same. This entire family has won us over completely. As funny as they are kind and we've enjoyed our time working with them all. Thank you Haye and Jani, we had a lot of fun with the two of you :)  Congratulations!!

I have always believed that great photos don't necessarily need a mind-blowing location or backdrop. Krystal and Kyle's wedding is living proof of that. There is nothing wrong with - and in fact there is something so right with - hitting a dirt road outside of town for wedding photos. It's rustic, it's peaceful, and it's simply perfect. So when Krystal ran this idea by me before the wedding day I was thrilled.  We also made a stop at the fire hall where Kyle is a firefighter... we would never deny him wedding photos on that big shiny red truck! Krystal and Kyle, I know this day has been years in the making and we are so happy to have been able to share it with you. Thank you and congratulations : )

Last year Caitlin and Brad had a canoe engagement session.  So obviously we knew their wedding would be nothing short of awesome.  There wasn't a canoe. But instead lots of other good things: a uniquely  beautiful dress and the classiest of bridesmaid dresses. Chuck Taylors  and handmade dinner napkins that would later become a quilt. His and  Hers bum-flap pyjamas.  And to wrap it all up, a party under the "stars"  at the Backstage Capital Theatre in Delhi. Another perfect wedding day with another really sweet bride and groom. We arrived the morning of the wedding to an almost-empty home. Lenna's dad was puttering around, but the girls weren't back from hair + makeup yet and the house was quiet. We got to work photographing the usual details (dress, rings, shoes, etc.) and just as we wrapped that part up, the front door flung open. And so began the party. An Armenian wedding day begins with an open house for friends and family; music, laughter, food, and all the while the getting-ready process is underway. It was probably the most active we've ever seen a pre-ceremony location - so much fun so early in the day! The ceremony was something new for us and something new is always good. And the reception! We loved the Lenna-ness that accented this wedding; she's such a creative DIY girl and her talent and personality shone through in all the details. Lenna and Matt thank you for sharing this very special day with us. It's been awesome to have a little peek into the world you share. Congratulations : )

This was our first-ever wedding at Craigowan in Woodstock and you couldn't have asked for a more perfect summer day for an outdoor ceremony. We did some pre-ceremony shots with the girls at the ruins of an old church (Sarah gets the credit for finding that lovely spot!) and then we headed to Craigowan for the big event. It was a great wedding to shoot and such an easy-going couple (and crowd) to work with. This day flew by for us and I'm sure it did for them as well. Thanks for the golf cart tour Sarah and Matt! This was our third wedding of the year at The Windermere Manor - and it's really cool to see how each wedding is so uniquely different even in the same venue. Laura and Cam are quite obviously adorable and they are equally as fantastic on the inside. They are so great to have in front of the camera together- a little bit silly and a lot sweet. Their wedding was amazingly pretty and simple and just perfect for them. I loved the little birds and pops of blue accents in this wedding decor- these cute little details did not go unnoticed! A wedding can unfold in so many different ways. For Jen and Phil it was all about sharing a special and intimate moment with a handful of their closest friends and family. The entire event in one location, with minimal stress. No wedding party. Lots of love. And lots of time to share laughs, drinks and fine food with their guests. We joined them at the oh-so-fabulous Langdon Hall in Cambridge and it was one of the most relaxed wedding days we have ever witnessed. Definitely the most beautiful venue. We try to get our gaggle of girls together when we can, but the older we get the harder it seems to be... kids, work, some of us living on the other side of the country, etc., etc. A couple of years back at one of our "gatherings" Debb yammered on all night about this guy Doug - we didn't really think much of it until a couple of months later she announced that she was going to be having a baby!! And she did, the sweetest little girl named Ella. In a couple of weeks, Debb and Doug will be getting married and I couldn't be more excited to be their wedding photographer. I drove down to New Hamburg to do a quick (very quick - like literally 5 minutes) photo shoot of them together before the sun completely set for the night. I have always liked Doug but it was during this session that I saw how much he really loves his girl - there is such a sweetheart in this tough guy. Debb and Doug we can't wait for your wedding... see you very soon : )

I don't know if I've ever met a couple quite like Holly and Jay. About a year ago I sat down with them at their dining room table to talk about wedding photography. Immediately it was like sitting down with a couple of old friends. And they were clearly excited about their wedding. Truthfully, between the two of them it was Holly who did most of the talking... in the bubbly wide-eyed mile-a-minute manner that any of her nearest and dearest will attest to being so typically Holly. And Jay just smiled at her as she went on about their story, their plans, and their vision. I love weddings regardless of size, venue or style, but this day stands out in my memory as being just a little bit different. A lot awesome. Proof that a wedding doesn't have to be the traditional norm. They wanted it to be more like a party and I am certain that they got their wish. I have a couple of thank you's to dole out here: Thank you Holly, for offering your wedding day footwear to a blister-footed photographer. For offering Jeremy a bite of your sub. Even though we declined both - it's appreciated. Thank you for the friend request right in the middle of your wedding speech! Thank you Jay for being so sweet to Holly. And for being sweet in general actually. To Big Jay (best man) thank you for making us laugh, and laugh some more. And Jess (maid of honour) thank you for demonstrating what a real girlfriend is all about. I have never seen a bridesmaid cry so much or dance so hard. It was as though your own daughter got married that day. Finally, a massive thank you to Holly and Jay, for welcoming us so openly into your lives and for having us with you through this last year. We are so, so happy for you guys : )

Planning a wedding locally is a pretty big task. But planning a wedding here in London while living in another province? That takes some work. Work and organization and probably some deep breathing. Definitely a lot of phone conversations and emails. Lola and Brandon amazed us. We couldn't believe how a wedding day that flowed so seamlessly could have been planned from the other side of the country. But it was. It probably helped that they have a wicked good support team here who had a lot to do with the planning and it was impossible to miss the love and effort that went into this day. Lola's vision of a vintage-y wedding day was beautiful and I was so in love with all of the details from the dress (!) to the flowers to the everything else. Lola and Brandon - it has been such a great experience working with both of you and we thank you for letting us in on your wedding day. Congratulations : )

From the moment I first met them they emitted pure excitement about their wedding. The planning, the details, the engagement session. The everything-they-would-be-working-on-together-ness. And there is nothing better than being part of a wedding day like that. Even when we got snarled at by an angry lady.. they really didn't care. Just kept smiling. Tom and Katie's wedding had a very awesome vibe in the air. You could literally feel the excitement. Especially from Tom and Katie. Tom was pretty much giddy all day which was so sweet to see. And Katie's adorable smile didn't leave her face for a second. We headed from London to Bradford for this wedding at Silver Lakes, a venue we had never visited before but very much enjoyed. It was a wedding that was definitely worth the drive and another one of those weddings where we felt as welcome as any guest might feel. Oh. My. Goodness. It's a girl! A tiny, sweet, absolutely perfect little girl. I met Delaney for a little photo shoot when she was just four days old. I had been looking forward to it for months. It has been amazing to watch this family progress from dating, to married, to pregnant, to baby! Lyndsay and Matt are head-over-heels in love with little Delaney and they are so, so happy. In the normal new-parent, sleep-deprived, bleary-eyed and exhausted sort of way. I figured the parenting thing would just come naturally to them and it seems to have done just that. Thank you for sharing her with me Lyndsay and Matt. I know you'll be incredible parents : )

We love small-town and country weddings. The people are always super friendly and make us feel incredibly welcome. And there's a good chance that there may be a fun country element or two incorporated into the photo plan-of-action (horse, barn, large piece of farming equipment) which is a nice switch from the city stuff we usually shoot. We got all of that at Epy and Falon's wedding and an extra-amazing couple to boot. I have no idea how we are so lucky, but we always seem to score the best wedding clients. I am so often amazed at the amount of effort that goes into a wedding - and this wedding was by far no exception. From the cupcakes to the boutineers to the hairpieces ... right down to the bride's bouquet and shoes, everything about this wedding was their own creation. With the spectacular Elsie Perrin Williams Estate as a backdrop for the day, Laura and Sean set the stage for a well-planned and perfectly executed event. Having their first look and photos together before the ceremony meant that they could immediately join their guests afterwards and start the celebration. We always recommend going that route if possible! We lucked out again with another easy couple to work with. Laura never stopped smiling (ever!) and Sean provided much much comic relief all day long (see a tribute to that at the bottom of this post). Thank you for sharing your day with us Laura and Sean. We loved it. And I hope you keep giggling together for many many years to come : )

From the moment the first bobby pin went into that fiery head of hair at the salon in the morning, straight through to the height of the dance floor craziness that night, we were there. For twelve hours we were with Kathryn and Nathan on their wedding day... and we were amazed at how fast the day flew by. We loved every moment of this wedding and it was so good to work with Kathryn and Nathan again.We were thrilled that Kathyrn booked the beautiful historic train station in St. Thomas so we'd have a guaranteed good place for photos rain or shine. Turns out it was a whole lot of shine and no rain that day though! They totally earned this great weather, since they had willingly endured pouring rain during their engagement shoot last fall! Two years ago I met Lyndsay and Matt and I instantly adored them. We did engagement photos for them later that year, and last August we were the lucky photographers at their rainy, rainy, rainy but very good wedding. They just might be the easiest people in the universe to work with. And the nicest people you'll ever meet. So I could only be excited, happy, ecstatic, thrilled and more (to say the least) when I found out they are going to have their first baby. Almost on their first anniversary. It was awesome of them to invite me back to get some shots of this gorgeous belly and the two people who created it. Pregnancy is such a phenomenal but brief moment in a girl's life. It's 40 weeks of waiting and wondering. And a little bit of worrying. And more waiting. It's such a simple and yet beautiful everyday thing. Which makes photos like these very, very precious. Congratulations Lyndsay and Matt.. I can't wait to meet your little babe : )

It's official. We are smack dab in the middle of wedding season frenzy and we are absolutely the busiest we have ever been. It's a good-busy though. And we're doing our best to keep on top of blog posts as there are heaps of photos waiting to be shared!

So without further adieu, we move on to Sara and Adam's engagement session in Weldon Park just north of London. Sara and Adam have been together since their teenage years when they lived on parallel streets. And Sara's dad actually built her a ladder so she could climb from her back yard over the fence into Adam's back yard ... which might be as close as we ever come to the boy-and-girl-next-door type of love story! Being fairly new to the area, I had never heard of this location but it was a perfect choice; it's so quiet and hidden away. Sara and Adam were super relaxed during their session and I think I fell in love that day with a certain little hound dog named Daisy. Seriously, just look into those eyes and you're sold. In a few short weeks Sara and Adam will be married, and we are so excited that we are going to be there. Thanks guys.. see you soon : )

We met Dawn and Chris in downtown Stratford for their engagement shoot and they brought along their little dog Finnegan for some shots (after all, he's family too!)

Finnegan held his own and impressed us with his good behaviour. You never do know what will happen when you put a dog in front of a camera (same goes for kids) but he did not disappoint us. And then his "grandparents" escorted him away and we resumed the shoot with Dawn and Chris... and they were so awesome to work with. Not long ago I photographed Stella and Rob's engagement session - and it was then I decided that this was going to be one awesome couple to work with. She's as adorably sweet as he is genuine good-guy nice, and there's nothing better to photograph than that sort of thing : )

The crossing-of-fingers and frequent weather forecast stalking finally, FINALLY turned in our favour. The clouds parted, the sun shone (warmly!) and we officially had the very first non-rainy wedding since our first wedding this year. And what a wedding... it was such an event! With two cultures meshing together, there was so much action all day long; a tea ceremony, 3 dress changes, Chinese lion dancers ... and much, much more. We had it all planned out: an elaborate shoot in downtown Toronto, spanning several blocks and numerous locations.. it was sure to be good times. But who did we think we were, hoping for a nice day for our shoot? It just wasn't meant to be. Matt and Lenna were still up for photos though. So our big plan was downsized to a condensed version on account of the wind/rain, and it worked out perfectly in the end. On -yet another- dark and dreary Saturday, we packed up and headed down the road to Kitchener for Katie and Cory's wedding. It was raining so hard we could barely see. At this point, we weren't really surprised since it has rained at almost every wedding so far this year. And it didn't really matter because we were really excited for this wedding. Katie and Cory aren't your typical bride and groom - they are different, and we love different. Take the flowers, for example; every single flower in each bouquet and table arrangement was hand-made by Katie from the pages of recycled books. Amazing. And one could only assume these two would not be posing for photos in a pretty and manicured park setting. We congregated downtown Waterloo before the ceremony, and the rain broke for a total of about 20 minutes (hooray!) which was just enough time for the First Look and a few outdoor shots. And the day continued on, full of rain but also full of love and all the stuff that good weddings are made of.

Cory and Katie, your wedding was fabulous and we'll always remember all the little things about it that made it so You. Thank you for letting us be the lucky ones to capture it. And congratulations!

With a venue like Fanshawe Pioneer Village, it's easy to get excited about shooting a wedding. A ceremony in an old chapel, a reception in a rustic open-air barn. And oodles of cool old heritage buildings on a well-kept property by a lake. You really couldn't ask for much more.

But then came the rain. It poured. The all-day type of rain that is great for a lazy Sunday, but not so much great for a wedding day. And with the rain came the wind... the pooling of water into massive puddles... and more wind. The kind of wind that will turn an umbrella inside out and rip it apart. True story.

Kaley, we loved how you didn't lose hope on your wedding day. You were a little sad that it rained, but it really didn't change a thing. Even at the end of the day when your crisp and clean white dress had turned brown and soggy and mud-soaked, you smiled. Happy to be married to Zach. And you carried on as though the sun was shining and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Thanks to you both. And congratulations : )

Oh, Springtime.. how you challenge us photographers so... with your wind and your up/down/sideways rain. And your wind. And your rain...

Jess and Ryan were married at the Old Courthouse downtown - which is conveniently located smack dab in the middle of a lot of great photo spots. However, on the day of their wedding it was clear that we were not going to be doing much photography outdoors (due to all the wind/rain) and we would need to initiate Plan B. And so we did. Thankfully they had booked a room at the Metro Hotel a few blocks away - we had heard good things about this hotel and it did not disappoint. Between that location and a few outdoor shots we squeezed in between the raindrops, the day went off without a hitch. And this bride and groom weren't even phased a bit by the rain. In a situation where bridezilla could understandably emerge, there was nothing but smiles and happiness from Jess. We loved her for that.

Jess and Ryan - we loved your wedding. Even in spite of the weather, it was a beautiful day. Thank you for sharing it with us : )

We love the story of how Jen and Phil met each other. At a baseball game they just ended up sitting together. And now here they are, soon to be married. It's amazing to think about all the coincidences and what-if scenarios that make the things work on this planet... there are so many minor things that happen every day (such as baseball games) that lead to really big things (such as marriage). It's a crazy world!

We loved working with Jen and Phil. We laughed working with Jen and Phil. In a few months, they will be married at this very same location (the incredibly beautiful Langdon Hall in Cambridge) and we can't wait to photograph the wedding day.

We had a good winter. A fairly quiet season compared to last summer and fall, and a break that we truly embraced. We (finally) unpacked some forgotten boxes and tackled some much-procrastinated to-do’s and welcomed baby boy #2 into the family. But before long we could clearly see that it was time to get back at it.. and so we practically skipped to our first wedding of 2011.

It was our first time at the Elm Hurst and it was a fantastic experience thanks to (1) their wonderful staff (2) the beautiful atmosphere created by Designs in Bloom and (3) the smooth-sailing day orchestrated by Jen's wedding planner, Ashley.

Jen's biggest photo concern is Michael and his smile-ability.. which was apparently no problem on this sweet, sweet day we shared with them. Such a good wedding. Congratulations to Jen and Michael, and thank you for such a beautiful start to our wedding season : )

He's the strong and silent type. Doesn't say much. She's a lot like him; quiet, a little reserved.

One thing is for sure: both of them are always, always happy. Infectiously happy. Always smiling. Just look at those smiles, who wouldn't love them?! We couldn't be more thrilled to work with a couple like this. It was a little chilly on the day of their shoot but they fared well in the outdoors. It wasn't warm. The ground was neither springtime-green nor beautifully snow-covered. But with a really great location and a very laid-back bride-and-groom-to-be, it didn't matter.

Jess and Ryan will be getting married in London later this month, but since they live in Chatham we decided to head to their neck of the woods for the engagement shoot. We don't get down to Chatham very often so it was a nice change of scenery (and a darn good excuse to stop in at my parents' place nearby for a home-cooked meal!)

We don't usually post family photos on our blog. As George Carlin once said, no one really cares about your kids, that's why they're your kids. So no one else has to care about them. But since Noal was born (5 weeks ago!) we've really been appreciating our Eliot and how much of a big kid he is becoming. So last weekend we thought he was ready for his first official photo shoot. It's hard to believe that he will be starting JK this fall... but we know he's more than ready for something new and exciting. And we know he will continue to find new and interesting ways to astound us.

It's hard to believe that we are already two months into 2011. Which means Spring is just around the corner. Which means wedding season is also just around the corner. Which means we are about to get really busy again!

Last year brought us so many great weddings, and we know that this year has a ton of good things in store for us too. We are so looking forward to the months ahead! Looking forward to working 2011 weddings with our new brides and grooms, and also excited about meeting 2012 wedding couples!

We've posted a random photo from each wedding last season - each photo is a link to its corresponding blog post from last year. We'll also be posting a portraits overview in the near future. Enjoy! Lots of new stuff to come soon.

our baby is here!

For those of you who have been waiting out this news as much as we have, we can finally announce that our new little baby has safely arrived! Noal William was born on Monday, January 24th, 2011 at 1:10 p.m. He is 20 inches "tall" and he weighed in at 6 lbs 13 oz. We are so much in love with him. He's perfect. Eliot is totally getting into the big brother thing and I already can't wait to see the two of them grow up together. I'm ok with being outnumbered by boys 3:1!

Marcie + Noah + a little bit of Meatball (London, Ontario Maternity Photography)

Meet the world's most non-pregnant pregnant woman, Marcie - and her little Noah. And Meatball, their bulldog and the first-born child in the family. Marcie asked us to do a surprise session for her husband to document the pregnancy and to get some much-needed shots of herself and Noah together. For the last nineteen months, it's been a family of three plus Meatball, but things are about to change; in a few short weeks, a little girl will make her way into this family. And without a doubt, life around this house will be forever changed.

We loved this session; Marcie is definitely not your typical pregnant woman (she could probably run a marathon!) and Noah stole our hearts the minute we met him. And Meatball? He's just the quiet and handsome older brother who likes to fool around a bit and then act like he's too grown up to be playing. He charmed our socks off too.

I know a little girl will only mean more good things for this family, and she will be here in no time. Thank you Marcie, for having us into your home and making us feel so welcome. We loved working with all of you : )

amie + steven (engagement photos... in the snow!)

Last year when we were photographing the getting-ready part of Josh and Melissa's wedding, something very special was happening on the property just across the road. Steven was in the process of mustering up every last nerve to ask Amie The Question. Under a willow tree. On bended knee. And -quite obviously- Amie accepted!

When they talk about their upcoming wedding, Amie and Steven are both clearly excited. The first time I met them, I picked up on that right away - Amie didn't stop smiling the entire time we talked about the big day, the details and of course, the photography. Since Steven's a transport truck guy, they plan on shuttling around in a truck on the day of the wedding (Amie is totally game for this.. and Steven has promised her a squeaky-clean, wedding-worthy rig to keep her dress white). We are going to love this wedding! October will be here before long and I know we are all looking forward to the wedding. But for now, the engagement session! Thank you Amie and Steven, you were wonderful to work with : )

It's only a few short months until these two get married! As is true with all of our couples, we have always been excited to shoot their wedding. But after their engagement session we are now extra excited! Katie and Cory go together like peas and carrots. They are such an easy-going couple to photograph, even on a very cold and wintry morning. I was so happy about all the snow ... thanks to the big storm in December for that! I figure if you're going to do outdoor winter photos, snow is pretty much essential. And we definitely lucked out in the snow department. Thank you to City Lights Bookshop for letting us come in from the cold for some shots (Katie is a total bookaholic so this book shop worked perfectly into our shoot). And thanks to Katie and Cory - another Good Thing to look forward to in 2011 : )

josh + april (london, ontario wedding)

We have one last preview before 2011... But before we get to that, we want to take a quick moment to wish everyone out there a very happy end to 2010! For us it was a crazy busy/good year and very eventful. Moving to London was probably the biggest activity of the year for us - and even though we still have a bit of unpacking to do, we already love it here! In January we are expecting a baby, so 2011 is already looking action-packed (and we couldn't be happier about it). Can't wait to get back into wedding season - we have so many great couples to work with next year! Thank you to everyone we shared 2010 with - we had so much fun. Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all... have fun, be safe, and enjoy the last bit of 2010. See you in 2011 : )

And now for a preview of our very last wedding of 2010! We couldn't have found a better way to wrap up the wedding season. Freezing? Absolutely! But we had a gorgeous vintage-vibe bride, and her groom who braved a kilt in the frigid temperatures with no complaints. And, of course, a bunch of wedding party people, family and friends who kept the day rolling without a hitch. Not to mention the really cool reception venue Aroma. What a fantastic end to a great year - thank you April and Josh! Congratulations : )

jillian + kaleb (and a baby belly)

We are so excited for Jillian and Kaleb! They will be kicking off the new year with a major life change: a brand new baby - their first - who is due to arrive early in January. Pregnancy looks awesome on Jillian... and for a girl who has never experienced it before, she sure makes it look easy (and really cute). Kaleb participated in some of the shots and spent the rest of the time watching his wife with the BIGGEST smile on his face. These two are seriously going to be two of the coolest parents on the planet. They are in for a whole lot of busy, busy fun in the very near future! Perhaps a little bit of sleep deprivation too, but they can handle it.

Photos were done in their home and also in their studio-in-progress. Kaleb is building the studio himself for their business In-Bloom. They have a smorgasbord of talent between the two of them and one can only imagine what their little one will be crafting up in a few years!

Thanks Jillian and Kaleb - enjoy these next few weeks together as you wait it out.. and all of our luck with the mom-and-dad thing. If we can do it, anyone can : )

laura + sean (engagement photos in Ailsa Craig)

For this engagement shoot we hit the streets of Ailsa Craig - which is a very cute little town near London. Back in highschool Laura held a part-time job at the grocery store here, and Sean was an occasional customer with a big crush on her. Funny thing is, Laura admits she doesn't even remember him coming into the store. It wasn't until they were in university that they were introduced to each other through friends... at which point they realized that their paths had already crossed many times... and then they fell in love, and the rest is history in the making. So that was the reason they decided to do their engagement session in Ailsa Craig - and they couldn't have picked a better spot.

We loved working with Laura and Sean because they are so obviously happy to be together. It's pretty much a nonstop flow of silliness and giggling and cuteness. Thank you Laura and Sean, you were fantastic to work with and one of the many reasons we like our job so much! And we know we will love the wedding next year : )

jenny + andrew (the wedding!)

Our second wedding in November was Jenny and Andrew. We love the story of how they met (he contacted her after finding her university ID card on the sidewalk) and after their engagement shoot, we knew that their wedding was going to be a really good one. She's an American, he's Canadian, and they have been making this long-distance thing work for several years now. They will continue to do so into the first part of their marriage until they figure out a long-term plan that will let them live together permanently. These two deserve a lot of credit for making their love work in spite of their situation. Their friends and family recognize this (and it's probably what made for an extra-good wedding day vibe!)

For November, it was incredible weather. Andrew's grandfather has a beautiful property outside London and we headed there after the ceremony for photos. After that is was off to the Stoneridge Inn for the rest of the party. Such a great day, and we were so happy to be there. Thank you to Andrew, Jenny and all the friends and family who made their day a huge success. Congratulations : )

When Daisy and Paul booked us for their November wedding, I didn't envision many outdoor photos happening since it gets dark early and it's usually really cold in November. But somehow we lucked out and there was enough time for some quick outdoor photo time! We loved Daisy and Paul's wedding, especially the ceremony which was in a beautifully-lit atrium. And Paul's dance floor enthusiasm should definitely be noted as well ... I'm not sure if he is usually this much of a dancer, but he sure gave his all out there on the dance floor and we truly had a great time photographing it. Melanie and Edward are the last of our posts from the busy, busy month of October! Most of the fall leaves had fizzled out by the time we got to their engagement shoot, but it didn't matter; they chose the Sifton Bog and it was in beautiful shape. We still got a little bit of autumn colour, and some really great naked trees (which we think are awesome for photos). They were so cute to work with and they did a perfect job of not looking cold! They brought along photos of their fur babies (see below) for a full family portrait. Thanks Melanie and Edward, less than a year until the wedding and we're so excited for it!

Kara is the infectiously adorable owner of Ooh La La Spa - a new and quickly growing business she operates from the basement of her home in downtown London. When she told us she wanted to do part of her engagement session at the house, we loved the idea - and we loved the idea even more when she took us for a tour around the place. Totally the house of my dreams! For the second part of their engagement session we headed out of town to Apple Land Station, where - in spite of the fact that we were really pushing into the end of the season - there were still quite a few apples and even some pumpkins to be seen. It was cold, but they kept each other warm and made it easy for us. No worries for Chuck, because Kara can definitely hold her own for the camera! It was one of our favourite engagement sessions to date. Thank you Kara and Chuck : )

After being rained out on three separate occasions, we were all a little discouraged. But it seemed that the forth attempt was a charm and on try #4 we finally got to do our engagement session with Cam and Laura. And it was sooo cute. This is one fabulously easy-going bride and groom-to-be and working with them really got us looking forward to their wedding next year! Thank you Laura and Cam, for bringing your real selves to your engagement shoot. And an extra big shout-out to Mother Nature, who finally decided to cooperate.

p.s.... half an hour after this shoot, it started to rain : )

We still have a few October sessions to post on the blog - it was our busiest month this year with a huge influx of engagement photos on top of the usual weddings. We had a lot of fun working with all of our soon-to-be-married couples and we loved how much each session was totally different. Thanks to all of our recently photographed faces for waiting it out as we get through our pile of to-do's!
Next on the list is Christine and James. They didn't know if they wanted a country or an urban setting for their photos so we suggested a favourite spot of ours (the Arva Flour Mill) just north of London. Interesting fact: a few years back, the White Stripes put on a totally random and unannounced show at the mill .. and if you were lucky enough to see it, we are so jealous.
Christine and James made this such an easy shoot and we can't wait for the wedding next year : )

Sheri and Keith are big-time kids at heart. So it was no surprise when they chose to do their engagement photos at Palasad where they often hang out together and participate in a little friendly competition. We also ventured outdoors for some shots in the parking lot ... which was still a great spot with an available shopping cart to boot. This was totally as fun as it looks (and special thanks to the people at Palasad for letting us invade their space for a while!)

I was absolutely excited when Caitlin mentioned using their canoe in their engagement photos. We were double excited when we arrived to see a freshly-painted red canoe - which is possibly the best colour in the world. We loved their location so much that we bookmarked it on our GPS in the event that we should ever get a canoe of our own. Our mission on this particular day was to make Brad feel as little cheesiness as possible during our photo shoot. Hopefully we succeeded.
Brad and Caitlin, you were a joy to photograph together. We can totally see the love and we can't wait to work with you again next year : )

Tom proposed to Katie at the Toronto Zoo, so doing engagement photos there seemed to make perfect sense. We had been to the zoo before but never with an engagement session in mind and we didn't really know what to expect ... however it quickly proved to be a great location with a lot more to offer than just typical zoo stuff. Tom and Katie were easy as pie to photograph together. And it wasn't really all about the animals. It was mostly just about them. Thank you Tom and Katie! See you in June : )

jen + michael (engagement photos in Guildwood Park)

Engagement and wedding photos are still filtering in and we have so many photos to share! So many fun things like canoes, flour mills and apple orchards ... lots of updates to come in the near future.

We met with Jen and Michael at Guildwood Park in Scarborough a few weeks back. We had never been there but it turned out to be a great location (good call Jen!)

I can't emphasize enough the cuteness of Jen and Michael.. they are so natural together. Complete romantics. Next year they will be getting married and we will be there to shoot the day. Interesting fact: one of Jen's closest friends is also getting married next year, and we will be there too. It must be awesome to plan your wedding alongside your best girlfriend. (Laura and Cam's engagement session post is coming soon!)

Thanks for the walk in the park Jen and Michael, we loved it. We'll be seeing you in April : )

greg + leanne (wedding photos)

It takes a brave girl to plan an outdoor wedding ceremony. And to plan on an outdoor wedding ceremony in October? It's almost unheard of. But Leanne and Greg were lucky enough to have a great location (the King Valley Golf and Country Club) with lots of space indoors should Plan B need to be executed. Which was not necessary. Because it was a warm(ish), sunny October Saturday, absolutely beautiful and just right for an outdoor ceremony. We lost the warmth quickly afterwards as the sun started to slip away, but we still had lots of time for photography before it got too cold. And the sunlight was perfect for that glowing-autumn-trees thing that we love so much. The party continued indoors for the remainder of the evening - where both Greg and Leanne put in some serious time on the dance floor. We always love it when our bride and groom are on the dance floor with their guests! You'll probably notice from the photos that this is one of the happiest brides we've worked with. We have so many great Leanne candids from this day. For both Greg and Leanne, it was obvious that this day couldn't have come soon enough. They are a perfect fit for each other. And now it's official! Welcome back from the honeymoon Greg and Leanne ... and congratulations : )

And now for something completely different and very fun ...

On Thanksgiving Sunday we drove up to Stratford to do engagement photos for Sarah and Matt, who will be getting married next year. Stratford is a beautiful town with tons of character and when Sarah told us she wanted that to be reflected in her engagement photos, we were totally up for it. We loved working with these two. They are so relaxed and willing. And they braved away from the nature scene in favour of a more urban feel, which gave us so many great options for their shoot. And they were super easy and natural to photograph together. Which always makes for great photos. Thank you Sarah and Matt, can't wait for the big day next year : )

brenda + brian (wedding)

The first time we met with Brenda and Brian, we picked up on something right away. Well two things, to be exact: first of all, this couple was ready to be married yesterday. And secondly, Brian is not a huge fan of the camera! We weren't worried though, because we knew he would be fine with Brenda by his side. Which he was. The wrench in the day was definitely the weather. On their wedding day, it rained. Brenda - being an incredible planner and fantastically organized - had so carefully planned the day down to the littlest details. She had timed the autumn colours just perfectly, and almost every tree was bursting with bright leaves just about to drop... but then it rained. All day. And it wasn't even supposed to rain! (We have pretty much given up on any rain/weather predictions this fall). Anyways - rain or shine, Brenda and Brian were going to be married by the end of it all. Their ceremony took place at the very beautiful St. Mary's United Church, and we ended up there for most of our photos. And just for Brian, there was a derby car pit stop en route to the reception in Thorndale. I don't know what he was worried about, this groom was great to photograph! It was a beautiful wedding, even with the rain, and we loved documenting all of the action. Thank you Brenda and Brian. Congratulations!

andrea + matt (autumn engagement photos in St. Thomas)

The stars were aligned on Thanksgiving Sunday, which is typically a little cold and rainy. Not this year! It was warm, not too windy, and the leaves had started to change colour on at least some of the trees. We met up with Andrea and Matt in Pinafore Park for their engagement shoot and right away we loved working with them. So natural and sweet together, they made our job a breeze. Thanks Andrea and Matt - can't wait to work with you again next year!

kathryn + nathan + a rainy day (engagement photos in St.Thomas)

I don't know if we will ever meet a more easy-going couple. On the morning of the engagement session, it was raining. Again. Good old October in Canada. So as always we were willing to reschedule if they wanted to... but they were still up for it! Not being too familiar with St. Thomas, we drove around a bit before the shoot to figure out a rain plan. I knew they wanted to do some shots on the hilltop where Nathan proposed, but we were on the hunt for something else to add to the shoot... a spot where they wouldn't get rained on. Thank you, beautiful historical St. Thomas train station! It's under construction right now, but apparently it will be open soon for weddings and other functions. I loved it. And so we did their engagement session both there and on the hilltop in the rain, and it was perfect.

Thanks Kathryn and Nathan - for being so cool to work with, so willing to participate in spite of soggy weather, and even though it's out of your control, for being so cute together : )
