katie + gary | wedding at hessenland inn | london, ontario wedding photographers

This was the first time we've photographed a wedding at Hessenland Inn and I definitely wouldn't object if I had the opportunity to go back!

When we met Katie and Gary early last year we could tell right away that working with them would be a memorable experience, and looking back I can't help but smile about the two of them and their perfect together-ness and how we got to be a big part of all the action. Gary and Katie found each other at a time where neither really was looking - and I think quite often that's the best way to stumble upon a rest-of-your-life-kind-of-love. These two were ecstatic to be planning a wedding together and as excited as they were for the wedding itself, I know they were even more so excited that it meant they'd be married in the end.

As we headed west to the lake en route to their wedding, the angry sky pretty much drenched every inch of Southern Ontario except for Hessenland. I think it was an all-day rain back in London. But at Hessenland we lucked out with just a couple spurts of showers during the day and we were safe until the reception (at which point the sky opened up and poured with all its might). Not that rain would have dampened their spirits or anything. It would have been impossible to wipe the smiles from their faces that day.

Katie and Gary's wedding brought a lot of first for us. First cyber wedding guest, as Gary's grandma Skyped in for the ceremony and reception (which was really sweet, and she even wore a corsage). First wedding involving guns and a camo wedding cake! But fittingly so if you know the couple. First ah-mazingly-awesome surprise choreographed bride/groom dance (which we knew about in advance, but had no idea would be so good!)

Thank you so much Katie and Gary, for bringing us along for this major chapter of your lives. We had so much fun working with you. I've been to a lot of weddings and I've seen a lot of love, and yours is the kind that is going to last forever. I Gary-untee it : )
